Around the World in 3300 Days
(Chile: February 2000)
In February 2000 we sell our Vanagon in Chile.
A contract has been signed in Iquique.
We will keep the vanagon in good running condition until the end.
The qualities of this vehicle are well known and published worldwide.
Its drawback is an engine that is not powerful enough for freeways,
but this is hardly a problem in South America. With careful driving
the engine will not overheat and thus can last very many miles.
Who ever had a comfortable camper with a permanent high roof,
will not want to miss it any more.
For shorter journeys the vanagon is appropriate for 2 adults and
2 children. For longer traveling the children's bed can be used
as a large additional storage space.
Our experiences with the vanagon are found in our travel reports.
Technical details are found here: Our Vanagon
The vehicle had its pitfalls, but we invested quite a bit of money to
bring it into its current good condition. It should last a long time
more.
